Taking care of our gentle giants at Pay and Friends Inc. is a big job, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.

Here are some fun facts about what our beloved Babies need:

– Each resident munches through about 52 pounds of feed daily.

– With 6 residents, that’s a whopping 312 pounds of food every day, 365 days a year!

– This includes fresh pasture grass or dry green hay and alfalfa during winter.

From late July until early June, when there’s no natural pasture feed, we keep their adorable bellies full with grass and alfalfa bales.

In spring and summer, flies love to bug our Babies, so from May to October, we spray them twice a week to keep those pesky flies away.

Seasonal challenges are part of the fun:

– Heavy snow and extreme cold mean extra straw bedding.

– Sweltering heat calls for additional shade shelters.

– Occasionally, a vehicle might run off the road, damaging our fence.

Plus, volunteers help clean up roadside garbage, making our space beautiful and safe.

And let’s not forget the fun stuff!

Our Babies LOVE toys, especially LaLa, our playful youngest member. Toys keep their senses engaged and bring endless joy.

Regular vet care and hoof maintenance are essential for their health, along with any emergency needs that pop up.
